April 7—Special Election
Nominating petitions for candidates for the established political parties (Democratic, Green and Republican) will be filed Jan. 12 through Jan. 19 with the Illinois State Board of Elections in Springfield.
Voters may go here to check whether their home addresses are in the 5th Congressional District. Only those persons who are registered to vote in the 5th Congressional District will be eligible to vote in the Special Primary and the Special Election in this District.
Under the law, no appointment is made and there will be no interim U.S. Representative for this District between the time of the resignation and the completion of the Special Election.
